Men's Tennis Match at Saint Joseph's Ends in a Tie

Box Score MERION STATION, Pa. (April 16, 2023) – The Morgan State men's tennis team tied with Saint Joseph's, 3-3, in a match halted by darkness on Sunday.
 
The Bears (4-11-1) won the doubles point with wins in the second and third flights. Mikeal Carpenter and Bertin Karenzi got things started with a 6-2 win against Justus Agbo and Nassim Fenjiro on court three. The Hawks duo of Alejandro Vedri and Inigo Diaz leveled the match on court one with a 6-0 win against Makkijha Brown and Martial Kawunde, but the Bears ultimately came away with the point on court two when Niles Rachal and Rhajzon Rankins came away with a 6-3 victory.
 
Diaz got the Hawks on the board when his third-flight opponent retired early in the first set, while Justus Agbo gave the Hawks the lead with a 6-3, 6-1 lead in the second flight.
 
Nassim Fenjiro notched a 6-2, 6-1 win in the fourth flight, but the Bears drew level with wins by Sebastian Lopez on court six and Mikeal Carpenter on court one.
 
Oscar Serra fought back from a set down and led Bertin Karenzi in the third set of a fifth-flight match, but ultimately it would be darkness that prevailed and prevented the completion of the match.
