Lady Bears Continue Strong Season Start At Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (Feb. 5, 2023)
--The Morgan State women's indoor track and field team traveled to Penn State University to compete in the Sykes & Sabock Challenge held at Horace Ashenfelter III Track on Saturday.  
 
The Lady Bears would have 16 top-10 finishes, including two first place finishes by Tia Jackson and Inara Shell.
 
Jackson would win the long jump event recording a personal-best leap of 19-10.75, thus breaking the school record. Morgan State now owns the top two marks in the conference in this event with Inara Shell's personal best mark from a week ago.
 
Shell would win the triple jump for the second consecutive week, as she improved on her personal best from last week with a jump of 39-11.25. Shell currently is No. 2 in the MEAC.
 
How It Happened
  • Tia Jackson placed first in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 19-10.75 to break the school record.
  • Inara Shell placed first in the triple jump for the second consecutive week, setting another personal-best mark of 39-11.25.
  • Ishana Asinor matched her personal best and school record in the pole vault at 10-10.00 to finish fifth.
  • Terine Lamberf finished third in the shot put with a personal best throw of 45-01.50 which is currently the top mark in the MEAC.
  • Johnelle Johnson had a personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 54-08.25 to place seventh. She also placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 42-09.00.
  • Yasmine George placed third in the 400 meter run with a time of 58.12 seconds. Aleisha Robinson (58.73) and Jalissa Emmens (58.86) placed fifth and eighth, respectively.
  • Rachel Field ran a time of 10:52.69 to place fourth in the 3000 meter run.
