BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 16, 2023)--The Morgan State softball team will head to the Lone Star State this weekend, when it travels to Houston, Texas for what will be a competitive weekend in the Houston Classic (Feb. 17-19) hosted by the University of Houston.
 
Morgan State (2-1) will begin play on Friday against Hofstra (0-0) at 12:30 pm and will take on host Houston (3-2) at 5:30 pm live on ESPN+. On Saturday the Lady Bears will meet the #12/#14-ranked Huskies of the University of Washington at 12:30 pm. It will be Morgan State's first contest against a top 25 program since facing #1 Oklahoma in the 2021 NCAA Softball Norman Regional. The Lady Bears will close out the Day 2 with its second meeting against Houston at 5:30 pm. Morgan State closes out the tournament with a single game on Sunday, Feb. 19 against Hofstra at 10 am.
 
All games will be played at Cougar Softball Stadium in Houston, Texas and will have live stats throughout the tournament. Both of Morgan State's contests against the Houston Cougars will air on ESPN+, while all of its other contests will air on MaxxSports.tv.

The Lady Bears enter this week's tournament on a two-game winning streak after winning their final two games against host Elon and North Carolina A&T in the Elon Tournament last weekend in North Carolina. Morgan's lone loss came against Winthrop in the season opener.
 
Junior pitcher Emily Raubuch was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The Milan, Mich. native went 1-0 in two appearances and recorded an ERA of 0.00, while surrendering two hits and striking out four in eight innings of work. She pitched 5.2 scoreless and hitless innings and struck out four batters in the win over Elon.
