BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 28, 2023)—Morgan State senior outside hitter
Jourdan Page tallied a double-double with a team-high 14 kills and had 11 digs, but it wasn't enough, as the Bears dropped a 3-1 () decision to visiting North Carolina Central in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match on Friday evening at Hill Field House.
North Carolina Central, which swept the season series with the win, improved to 4-15, 3-7 in the MEAC, and has now won six straight over Morgan State to take a 6-3 all-time series lead.
Emmie Modlin finished with 17 kills and nine digs, while Kamren Harper totaled 16 kills. Loren Johnson recorded a match-high 25 digs and Jeslyn Spencer had 17 digs. Bella Dearinger totaled 40 assists.
The Bears suffered a season-long fifth straight loss and dropped to 6-18, 1-8 in the MEAC.
Alyssa Sampson had a team-high 14 digs and Makila Billlingsley fell short of a double-double with nine kills and 11 digs.
Trinity Carruthers totaled 15 assists and
Erin Carpenter added 14.
NCCU finished the contest with 55 kills and had 28 attack errors for a hitting percentage of .171. The Eagles also recorded double digit kills in every set, including a set-high 16 kills in sets two and four. NCCU closed out the win by tallying 16 kills and just four attack errors for a hitting percentage of .364.
The Bears out blocked NCCU 11-8 for the match.
Ainara Fernandes finished with four blocks, while Billingsley and
Justyus Jackson each had three.
Morgan State will remain at home when it welcome's South Carolina State to Hill Field House on Sunday, Feb, 2 First serve is at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs (1-23, 0-10) are coming off a 3-0 loss at Coppin State (10/27).
