NORFOLK, Va. (May 13, 2022)--Morgan state will look to defend its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship, while also putting its season-long 16-game winning streak on the line when it faces Beltway rival Howard on Saturday, May 14 in the championship game at the NSU Softball Field.

This will be the fifth meeting this season between the two rivals, with the series tied 2-2. The Bison won the three-game regular season series, 2-1. It marked the first MEAC series loss for the Lady Bears in 11 series, dating back to the 2018 campaign. Morgan State picked up its second win over the Bison during Thursday's semifinal contest.

Morgan State (31-13), which captured the regular season title and the No. 1 seed, advanced to the title game for the second consecutive year, following a 12-5 win over Howard in the semifinals on Thursday.

Howard (29-22) reached the championship game by coming from behind times to defeat host Norfolk State 8-7. It was the second win for the Bison in their final at bat in these championships.

Game 1 is scheduled for 9 a.m. If Morgan State wins, they will claim their second consecutive title. If the Bison win, they will force a decisive second game to crown a champion.
