Morgan State’s Lagio Grantsaan Selected to Participate in 2022 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 28, 2022) -- Morgan State's Lagio Grantsaan has been selected to participate in the 2022 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship, which will take place April 1-3 at the Sugar Mill in New Orleans. All three days of the event will be televised by ESPN2, ESPNU or streamed on Twitter at @3X3UHoops.

Sixty-four players, who have elected to begin their professional careers, will represent all 32 Division I conferences and compete for their share of $150,000 – one of the largest prize purses at any FIBA 3x3 sanctioned events – by teaming up with other aspiring pro prospects from around the country. Each conference will be paired with another, forming 16 four-man rosters that will be separated into four pools. Grantsaan is one of four players that will be part of the HBC-U Don't Want None Team.

Grantsaan, a 6-9 standout forward from Utrecht, The Netherlands, made his mark as one of the top players in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). The senior completed the 2021-22 season averaging 10.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and shot 48.2 percent from the field, 65.7 percent from the free throw line, and 27.5 percent from 3-point territory.

He also scored double-figures 17 times, including a season-high 22-point performance in a 95-82 victory against Penn State Allegheny on November 11, 2021. He also finished the season with three double-doubles (points and rebounds).

Grantsaan helped lead Morgan State to a 13-15 overall record and 7-6 mark in MEAC play. The Bears advanced to the MEAC Tournament semifinals game where they fell to Norfolk State, and lost to Youngstown State in The Basketball Classic.

Teams will play each squad in their respective pool on April 1 and 2 before all 16 will head to the knockout stage on April 3, with the top two teams from each pool receiving byes to the quarterfinals. The winning team from each pool play game will win $1,000, victories in the first two knockout rounds will net another $1,000, a quarterfinal win is worth $5,000, a semifinal triumph is another $10,000, while the team that takes home the Tournament title will add $50,000 to their winnings.
