24 Track & Field Student-Athletes Named To MEAC All-Academic Team

NORFOLK, Va. (February 25, 2020) -- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the 2022 Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Selections, honoring 170 student-athletes from the conference's eight member institutions who achieved academic success. Morgan State had 24 members of its track & field program recognized for their efforts in the classroom.

The Bears women were represented by 15 honorees, while the men added nine selections.
 
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
 
"Congratulations to our indoor track & field All-Academic student-athletes," MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills said. "Education is the corncerstone of everything we do, both at the conference level and in intercollegiate athletics as a whole. Academic schievement is just as worthy of praise as anything accomplished in competition, if not more so."

2022 Indoor Track and Field All-Academic honorees -  Complete List

The MEAC will host the 2022 Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships Monday through Wednesday, Feb. 21-23, at the Virginia Beach Sports in Virginia Beach, Va. 
 
Wednesday's action will be streamed live on the MEAC Digital Network on YouTube at 1 p.m.
 
Competition will begin on Monday at 2 p.m. with the men's heptathlon. Day one will also see the MEAC hand out its first medals of the three-day event, crowning champions in the men's and women's long jump and 5,000-meter runs.

Tickets are currently on sale through the Virginia Beach Sports Center and will also be on sale on-site throughout the event. There will be no cash sales. Fans can purchase single-day tickets for $10 on Monday, $15 on Tuesday and $20 on Wednesday.
 
On Monday, a three-day pass will be available for $15. On Tuesday, fans can purchase a two-day pass for $20.
 
The Virginia Beach Sports Center is currently operating at full capacity; however, fans will be required to wear masks at all times, regardless of vaccination status, unless they are actively eating or drinking. In addition, anyone without a MEAC-issued credential will not have access to the awards area.

About the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is in its 51st year of intercollegiate competition with the 2021-22 academic school year. Located in Norfolk, Va., the MEAC is made up of eight outstanding historically black institutions across the Atlantic coastline: Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Howard University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina Central University and South Carolina State University.
