BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 8, 2022) -- Otto Kuhns completed 25 of 34 passes for 288 yards, but it was a pass from Jaylan Adams to Da'Quan Felton in the final seconds that sealed a 24-21 victory for Norfolk State before an announced Homecoming crowd of 10,200 fans at Hughes Stadium.

With the loss, the Bears have dropped 14 of the last 15 meetings against Norfolk State and have not beaten the Spartans since 2018.

Morgan (2-3, 0-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) had taken a 21-17 lead when Alfonzo Graham, the MEAC's leading rusher, raced 51-yards to the endzone to cap a 3-play, 60 yard drive with 1:53 left to go.

The electric back from Baltimore finished with a career-high 203 yards on 23 carries.

The game winning drive started at the Spartans' 34, following the kickoff by Beckett Leary. After an incomplete pass on first down, Kuhns passed 31 yards to Chris Butler and followed that was a 12-yarder to Felton who got out of bounds. Kuhns then threw a 5-yard pass to Butler that put the ball of the 13-yard-line.

Following a timeout by the Spartans with 32 seconds remaining, Kuhns took off for a 10-yard carry before being stopped at the Morgan 2 by Lawrence Richardson and Nana Asante. On first and goal from the 3, J.J. Davis was stuffed for a loss by Reginald Barnes. Morgan called timeout with 10 seconds left. On the ensuing play, backup quarterback Jaylan Adams tossed a 3-yard pass to Felton for the game -winning  touchdown.

Felton led all receivers with eight catches for 94 yards.

Carson Baker finished the day by completing 14 of 21 passes for 126 yards and threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Wilkins as time expired in the first half. The Bears went into the intermission trailing 17-7.

Baker engineered an 8-play, 75 yard drive midway through the fourth quarter and scrambled for a 13-yard TD. The extra point by Leary trimmed Norfolk's lead to 17-14 with 8:29 remaining in the contest.

Sophomore linebacker Erick Hunter finished with a team-high eight tackles, while sophomore safety Kaleb Coleman added seven tackles and a game-high four tackles for loss. Defensive lineman Nana Asante had seven tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack.
