BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 25, 2022)--The Morgan State volleyball team welcomed defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) champion Howard to Hill Field House on Friday for its Dig Pink match. The Lady Bears would give the guests all they could handle, before falling to the Bison, 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-19).
 
Morgan State dropped to 3-21, 2-8 MEAC, while Howard improved to 15-7, 8-1 MEAC. The win was also the fifth straight for Howard over Morgan State to give the Bison a slim 42-41 all-time series lead.
 
Howard hit .223 for the match with 39 kills. The Bison had seven service aces, but committed nine errors.
 
Morgan State finished with 26 kills and an attack percentage of .011. The Lady Bears had five service aces with Alyssa Sampson leading the way with two.
 
Rya McKinnon led Howard with eight kills, while Cimone and Bria Woodard each had seven. Kayla Diaz finished with 30 assists and Leah Reeves had eight digs.
 
The Lady Bears got nine kills from Makila Billingsley and 13 digs from Sampson. Trinity Carruthers had 22 assists.
 
Morgan State will take to the road when it travels to Norfolk, Va. to take on the Spartans of Norfolk State on Sunday, Oct. 30 for the Spartans' Senior Day. First serve is at 1 p.m. at Gill Gymnasium. The Spartans (5-14, 5-4 MEAC), who are on a two-match losing skid, fell short of upsetting Coppin State on Friday. Norfolk State would fall at home, 3-2 (18-25, 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 9-15).
