NORFOLK, Va. (Oct. 30, 2022)--Trinity Carruthers recorded a double-double with a match-high 31 assists and added 12 digs, but it wasn't enough to push Morgan State past host Norfolk State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon at Gill Gymnasium.

The Lady Bears would fall to the Spartans 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-22). Morgan State dropped to 3-22, 2-9 in the MEAC, while Norfolk State improved to 6-14, 6-4 in the MEAC.

Makila Billingsley led the Morgan State offense, finishing with a match-high 11 kills, while hitting a team-best .444.
Madison Grace added nine kills.
Alyssa Sampson recorded a match-high 13 digs.
Justyus Jackson concluded the afternoon with a match-best five blocks, including one solo, to give her 102 blocks for her Morgan State career, which ranks 17th all-time at Morgan.

As a team Morgan State hit .121 with 38 kills, including a set-best 15 in the opening set. The guests had just one service aces and committed four errors.

Norfolk State was led by Shonte Seale, who tallied 10 kills and hit .474. Sofie Langer collected a double-double with 27 assists and 13 digs. Adlene Jideofor led the team with four blocks, including two solos.

The Spartans finished the match with 35 kills, a .150 hitting percentage and racked up 12 service aces and only had one error. Alondra Hernandez led the way with a match-high five aces.

Morgan State returns home on Friday, Nov. 4 when it welcomes Delaware State at 6 p.m. at Hill Field House. The Hornets earned a 3-0 victory at home over South Carolina State on Sunday.
