ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Oct. 23, 2022)--The Morgan State volleyball team ended their six-match losing skid with a 3-1 (29-31, 25-16, 25-10, 25-16) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) victory over South Carolina State (SCSU) on Sunday afternoon at Dukes Gymnasium.

The win, which completed a season series sweep of the Bulldogs, was the first road victory of the season for the Lady Bears, who improved to 27-0 all-time against SCSU.

Morgan State (3-20, 2-7 MEAC) recorded season highs in both kills (52) and digs (62). The Lady Bears would hit .211 on the afternoon.
Madison Grace recorded a double-double with a match-high 14 kills and 10 digs.
Jourdan Page fell short of a double-double with 13 kills and nine digs.
Trinity Carruthers finished with a match-best 34 assists to go with seven digs and two kills.
Alyssa Sampson tallied a match-high 14 digs and
Tyasia McDuffie added 11.

South Carolina State (0-20, 0-9 MEAC) was led by Elisha Thompson, who finished with 13 kills, while Chelsea Cole recorded a team-high 13 digs. Siela Avea totaled 17 assists in the loss. The Bulldogs finished the match with 28 kills on 125 attempts, while committing 27 attack errors for a hitting percentage of .008.

The hosts held a 9.0-5.0 advantage in blocks. McKinley Roach totaled a match-high four blocks, including a solo and Chantelle McCray added three blocks with one solo.

Morgan State was led by
Jadyn Perkins, who had a team-high three blocks, including one solo to go with nine kills.

The Lady Bears will return home to host Beltway rival Howard on Friday, Oct. 28 in a MEAC contest at 6 p.m. at Hill Field House. The contest will be the Lady Bears' Dig Pink match.
