NORFOLK, Va. (
March 8, 2021) – As the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary during the 2020-21 academic year, the conference office now announces the Men's Basketball All-Time Team, presented by The Home Depot, comprised of 50 outstanding student-athletes throughout the conference's history.

Morgan State had five players represented on the MEAC All-Time Men's Basketball Team.

MEAC Players of the Year Marvin Webster, Reggie HolmesDeWayne Jackson and Phillip Carr were joined by three-time first-team All-MEAC honoree Eric Evans in forming Morgan's five-player contingent on the anniversary team.

The MEAC is using online fan voting to select its all-time teams in every sport in conjunction with the ongoing celebration of its 50th year of operation. Nearly 3,000 votes were cast for the men's basketball all-time team, with fans, media representatives, institution sports information contacts and others taking part. To be considered on the ballot, players must have been named one of the following: first-team All-MEAC, MEAC Player of the Year, All-America or be a MEAC Hall of Fame inductee.

Marvin "The Human Eraser" Webster was a three-time MEAC Player of the Year in 1973, '74 and '75. He was a four-time First Team All-MEAC selection (1972, 1973, 1974, 1975).  He averaged eight blocked shots a game while leading the Bears to the 1974 N.C.A.A. Division II championship as a junior. He averaged 21 points and 22.4 rebounds and was named Division II Player of the Year. He is the MEAC's all-time leader in rebounding (2,267) and blocks (722) and ranks No. 6 in the league with 1,990 points. Webster was inducted into the MEAC Hall of Fame in 1981.

Eric "Pencil" Evans was a three-time First Team All-MEAC selection (1976, 1977, 1978). He ranks among the MEAC's leading scorers and rebounders with 1,949 points (ranks No. 7 in MEAC) and 1,196 boards (No. 3 in MEAC) in 103 games. He also ranks No. 4 in the MEAC in field goals made (785)

Reggie Holmes was named the MEAC Player of the Year in 2010 and was a two-time First Team All-MEAC honoree in 2009 and '10 during his junior and senior seasons. He helped lead the Bears to three MEAC regular season championships, in addition to two MEAC titles and NCAA Tournament appearances -- the first in Morgan's Divison I basketball history. Holmes also finished his career as Morgan's All-Time leading scorer with 2,051 points (ranks No. 5 in MEAC) in 133 games played. He also ranks No. 2 in the MEAC in 3-point field goals made (308) and No. 4 in free throws made (514).

DeWayne Jackson earned MEAC Rookie of the Year in 2010. He was a two-time First Team All-MEAC honoree in 2011 and '13. The Bears finished the 2009-10 season as MEAC regular-season and tournament champions – before falling to No. 2 seed Oklahoma 82-54 in the NCAA Tournament. He also ranks No. 18 in the MEAC in steals (173).

Phillip Carr was named the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and was a two-time First Team All-MEAC honoree in 2017 and '18. He led his team in rebounds during every season he played for the Bears (2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18). Carr became one of only seven players in Morgan State history to score over 1,000 points and grab over 700 rebounds. He became the 19th member of MSU's 1,000-point club, scoring 1,165 points in 87 games and ranks sixth on the school's charts with 741 career rebounds, totals that he accumulated in just three seasons.
