BALTIMORE, Md. (March 25, 2021)-Morgan State will look to end a season-long two-match losing skid when it visits Delaware State in the first of a crucial back-to-back home-and-home against the Hornets on Thursday, March 25 in Dover, Del. The two will wrap up the series on Friday, March 26 in Baltimore, Md. at Hill Field House. Both contests are slated for 6 p.m. Delaware State currently sits in second in the MEAC Northern Division standings, while Morgan State is in third. Losers of four of their last five matches, the Lady Bears find themselves needing to win both matches in order to win the tiebreaker over Delaware State. Only the top two teams in the division will advance to the upcoming MEAC Tournament (April 2-3), hosted by Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va.

BEAR CLAWS: Morgan State (4-5, 3-4 MEAC), is coming off a 3-1 loss at crosstown rival Coppin State on Monday. Tylar Roberson, who hit .378 for the match, led three Lady Bears in recording double-doubles, finishing with a season-high 19 kills and adding 12 digs to collect her fourth double-double of the season. Jada Bivins totaled a season-high 43 assists and had a season-high 14 digs. Jourdan Page finished with 11 kills and 11 digs, both season highs. Jennevy Santos tallied 18 digs and added seven assists, while Jasmin Perry hit for a match-high .429 and totaled eight kills in her season debut.

HORNET STINGERS: Delaware State (8-4, 4-3 MEAC) ended a two-match losing slide with a 3-1 home victory over Howard (3/22). Valeria Otero had a match-high 15 kills, while Alondra Maldonado added 12. Mayah Ngundam recorded 10 kills and Jasmal Cruz finished with a match-high 18 digs. Jelena Dukic recorded 28 assists and Alayna Lacy fell shy of a double-double with 18 assists and nine digs. Kristi Gomez tied a MEAC season-high six aces in the match. Sydney Lewis and Ngundam each totaled four blocks to lead the Hornets, who out blocked Howard, 8.0-1.0 for the contest.

MSU VS DSU SERIES NOTES: Morgan State leads the all-time series, 48-16. Delaware State captured this season's first meeting, 3-0 in Dover, Del. (3/15).

NEXT UP: Morgan State will wrap up the regular season on Sunday, March 28, when the Lady Bears visit crosstown rival Coppin State. First serve is at 6 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex Arena.

WIN AND YOU'RE IN: With Coppin State already wrapping up the MEAC Northern Division crown and five-time defending champion Howard already eliminated from tournament contention, the Lady Bears find themselves in a battle with Delaware State for the second and final spot in the division standings. Morgan State, the reigning 2019 MEAC Tournament runner-up, currently sits in third in the league standings behind Delaware State. The Hornets swept the season's first meeting in Dover, Del. (3/15), thus the Lady Bears need to win both remaining matches against the Hornets in order to reclaim the tiebreaker and advance to next week's MEAC Tournament (4/2-3).

SAYING GOODBYE: The Lady Bears will say goodbye to a total of five seniors. Four-year members Shadae Debraux, Mykaela Ross and Triniti Smith, along with Tylar Roberson and Jennevy Santos, who came to MSU a year ago as juniors will be honored prior to the Lady Bears' season finale at Hill Field House for 'Senior Night' against Delaware State (3/26).

PERRY MAKES DEBUT: Jasmine Perry made her 2021 Spring season debut in the Lady Bears' last contest at Coppin State (3/23). Perry, who was coming off an injury, totaled eight kills on 14 attack attempts with just two errors, while hitting a match-high .429 against the Eagles.

BIVINS RECORDS SEASON BESTS: Junior setter Jada Bivins had a season-best 43 assists and added a season-best 14 digs at Coppin State (3/22). It was the third double-double this season for Bivins, a native of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

SMITH SETS CAREER HIGHS: Senior Triniti Smith came off the bench at Howard (3/18) to share the duties at setter and had a career evening. The Bowie, Md., native recorded 14 assists, four service aces and had four digs, all career highs in the win over the Bison.

BOZIER REACHES CAREER VICTORY 475: Morgan State head coach Ramona Riley-Bozier entered the 2021 Spring season three wins shy of career victory No. 475. She picked up milestone victory 475 with a 3-2 victory over Howard on Monday, March 8. Riley-Bozier, who is the all-time winningest coach at Morgan State in any sport with 475 career victories as the volleyball coach, is also the softball program's all-time career coaching leader with 161 victories in nine seasons at the helm.

2021 SPRING MEAC CHAMPIONSHIP: This year's 2021 Spring MEAC Volleyball Championship will take place April 2-3 in Norfolk, Va. at Echols Hall on the campus of Norfolk State University.
