BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 22, 2021)-North Carolina Central had two players record double-doubles, as the visiting Eagles defeated Morgan State in an entertaining five-set contest on Friday afternoon at Hill Field House to begin the second half of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) slate.

North Carolina Central improved to 6-11 overall, 5-3 in the MEAC with the win, while Morgan State fell to 3-19, 1-7 in the MEAC.

Ammaarah Williams of NCCU, hit for a team-best .413 and finished with a match-high 22 kills and 13 digs, while Lauren Janok also had a double-double with a match-high 50 assists and a team-best 19 digs. Arlanda Faulkner added 20 kills and Celene Morris and Jada Buckhanon each had 10 digs, as the Eagles swept the season series.

Morgan State which fell to 1-2 in five-set matches this season, offensively was led by
Jasmin Perry, who tallied a career- and team-high 15 kills and hit .458 for the match.
Gabriela Hiciano totaled 14 kills and had nine digs, falling short of a double-double, while
Makila Billingsley finished with 13 kills.
Mackenzie Jefferson finished with 48 assists, nine digs and had hit a team-best .571 with four kills on seven attempts and no errors. Defensively,
Jadore Hayes led Morgan State with a season- and match-high 24 digs, while adding five assists and a match-high four service aces, also season bests.

NCCU hit .263 as a team, finishing with 63 kills on 161 attempts. The Eagles recorded a set-high 16 kills in the second, third and fourth sets and hit .333 in both the third and fifth sets.

The Lady Bears recorded a set-high 18 kills in their Set 3 victory with an attack percentage of .317. Morgan State also recorded 15 kills in Set 2 and hit for a set-high .400.

NCCU out blocked Morgan State 10.0-7.0, behind a match-high four assisted blocks by Williams. Lejla Viteskic finished with three combined blocks, including two solo. Perry and Billingsley each recorded three combined blocks with two solos to lead the Lady Bears.

Morgan State returns to the court on Sunday, Oct. 24 when it welcomes South Carolina State to Hill Field House for the Lady Bears' annual Homecoming contest. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. The traditional MSU alumni match will take place on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

South Carolina State (0-18, 0-9 MEAC) dropped a 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-16) decision at Coppin on Friday. Morgan State leads the all-time series, 24-0 and defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 in the first meeting this season in Orangeburg, S.C. (9/26).
