Morgan Commons Garage to Reopen Following Third-Party Expert Assessment

After the careful re-evaluation of the structural condition of the Morgan Commons garage adjacent to the University Student Center and professional certification of its safety by an independent construction engineering and material science firm, the University is reopening the facility for usage while repairs are underway. During this time, some sections of the garage will be inaccessible for use.

At Morgan, everyone's safety is paramount. The University made the initial decision to close the garage to err on the side of caution and mitigate any potential risks while much-needed repairs were conducted. Following a thorough examination of the building structure, the University has been cleared to resume parking operations. The review was conducted by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. The reassessment of the Morgan Commons garage comes at a critical juncture as the availability of campus parking has been strained. The garage will re-open effective today Thursday, October 21.
