BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 4, 2021)-Senior guard Dahnye Redd was named Madness Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday by the staff of College Sports Madness.
 
This is the second honor of the season for Redd, who first earned the distinction on Nov. 30, 2020.
 
A native of Darby, Pa., Redd averaged 15.5 points on a combined 12-of-26 shooting, including 7-of-8 (87.5 percent) from the free throw line. Redd also added 6.5 rebounds and two steals per game to help the Lady Bears to a 1-1 week.
 
Redd totaled a team-high 16 points, knocked down all four of her free throw attempts, grabbed four rebounds, two steals and an assist in a loss to Howard in the MEAC opener on Saturday, Jan. 2.
 
A day later, Redd nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with 15 points on 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) shooting, pulled down nine rebounds and had two steals in a victory over Howard in the series finale on Sunday.  
 
"I'm very grateful for being able to receive this award twice, I appreciate the recognition," said Redd. "Sunday's game was extremely important there was no way we were going to lose back-to-back games to that Howard team. We knew we played terrible on Saturday, so there was only one other option on Sunday, which was to come out and hit them first."
 
The Lady Bears (4-2, 1-1 MEAC) travel to Dover, Del. next weekend to face Delaware State in a two-game MEAC series. Morgan State and the Hornets will meet on Saturday, Jan. 16 and again on Sunday, Jan. 17 at Memorial Hall. Tip-off for both days is at 1 p.m.
