Oguzhan Ceylan Swings Into MEAC Player of the Week Honors

BALTIMORE, Md. -- After totaling a pair of victories and helping Morgan State men's tennis extend to a five-game winning streak, sophomore Oguzhan Ceylan has been dubbed the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon. 

The Izmir, Turkey, native was perfect in both singles and doubles play as Morgan State blanked Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday, March 13. After pairing with Nihit Rawal for a 6-2 doubles victory over Brian Hoffarth and Kyle Gower, Ceylan defeated Gower 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles spot.

This is Ceylan's first MEAC weekly honor of the season, and the fourth time this season Morgan State has had the league's top performer. Arjun Ramakrishnan was named MEAC Player of the Week on Feb. 13, Nihit Rawal was honored on Feb. 6, while Serhii Kharchev was named on Feb. 20.

Morgan State has a 6-4 overall record (1-0 MEAC) and currently have won six consecutive matches since Feb. 2.

The Bears will return to the courts on Saturday, March 23 when they host St. Francis College Brooklyn. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
