DOVER, Del. (March 2, 2019) – Morgan State's leading scorer
Stanley Davis did not play tonight, but the Bears found a way to snap its losing streak by rolling past Delaware State.
The Bears trailed 34-33 at halftime, before posting 43 second half points en route to a 76-58 win over the Hornets at Memorial Hall Gym.
LaPri McCray-Pace, who led the Bears (9-18, 4-10 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) with a season-high 17 points and seven rebounds, spoke about the team's overall effort tonight.
"We just had to stick to the gameplan," said McCray-Pace a 6-foot-4 sophomore. "This was the first time all year we've been fully healthy. With Isaiah [Burke] back, but 'Bazz' [
Stanley Davis] out , everybody stepped up."
"I was in a flow with the game tonight," who was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field. "I was playing off of Tez [Cameron] and Sherwyn, and that's a credit to them."
The Bears shot 47 percent from the floor in the second half and finished the night with a 42 percent shooting clip.
"It's good to get back on the winning side," said Morgan State head coach
Todd Bozeman. "I thought our defense made the difference, clearly in the second half. It was reminiscent of how we played early in the season, especially against our non-conference opponents, when we had a full compliment of players – even though we were down Stanley tonight."
"I thought LaPri, Isaiah and Malik gave us a lot of energy," added Bozeman. "Tyler hit some big threes off the bench—he's just one of those guys that can hit shots without warming up. I thought it was an all-around team effort."
