Morgan State Fall Short at Eastern Shore, 78-73

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (March, 4, 2019) --  Freshman guard Isaiah Burke was a spark as the reserve led the Bears with 17 points, but it was Maryland Eastern Shore that pushed through for victory on Monday night at the Hytche Athletic Center. 

Bryan Urrutia scored a game-high 18 points with seven rebounds and the Hawks held off Morgan State 78-73. Eastern Shore had six players score in double-figures and finished the night by shooting 55 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc. 

Burke shot 6 for 14 from the field and shot 50 percent (4-8 3FG) from 3-point territory. 

Junior Stanley Davis also came off the bench to score 16 points (6-10 FG) with a game-high 13 rebounds, while senior Martez Cameron added 10 points with three assists and two steals. Sherwyn Devonish-Prince Jr., whose 11 points per game coming into the contest ranked second on the Bears, shot only 17 percent for the game (1 of 6).

The Bears shot 35 percent (10 of 28) in the first half but hit 47.2 percent (17 of 36) in the second half. Morgan State scored 28 points off of 21 turnovers by the Hawks.

The Bears scored 49 bench points but lost for the seventh time in eight games.

Eastern Shore connected on 23 of 36 free throws (63.9 percent), while the Bears were 12 of 19 (63.2 percent).

UP NEXT
Morgan State plays host to Coppin State in the regular season finale on Thursday night at Hill Field House. The game will mark 'Senior Night' for three Bears who will be playing in their final home game: Tyler Streeter, Antonio Gillespie and Martez Cameron.
