Box Score MILFORD MILL, Md. (Feb. 2, 2019)-The Morgan State women's tennis team got its first win of the season by beating LaSalle, 4-0 on Saturday at Twin Lakes Racquet Club.
 
Morgan State (1-5) began by winning the doubles point, with a quick 6-0 victory by Peggy Rooke and Asmara Rose at the No. 1 spot. Then the two freshmen, Averiana Mitchell and Jourdan Wallace earned victory at the No. 3 position with a 6-2 win to give the lead to the Lady Bears.   
 
Freshman Averiana Mitchell led the way in the single action, winning in straight sets at the No. 5 position. Senior Oriane Yehouenou then got the third point with another straight set win at No. 4 single. Asmara Rose clinched for the Lady Bears with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 2 singles.
 
"It's great to get the first win of the season, but we have to work even harder if we want more success," said Morgan State head coach Matt Townes. "We've been playing hard the past few matches and we have finally broken through. If we continue to push each other and work our butts off, we will have a lot more of these to come."
 
The Lady Bears will be off until Saturday, Feb. 9, when they take on Hofstra in a non-conference match in Hempstead, N.Y.
