Ramakrishnan Named MEAC Tennis Player of the Week

BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 13, 2019) – Senior Arjun Ramakrishnan has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men's tennis player of the week, the first time this season for the product of Chennai, India, has achieved this honor.
 
This is Ramakrishnan's first MEAC weekly honor, and the second of the season for the men's tennis program. Junior Nihit Rawal was selected player of the week on Feb. 6, 2019.

"Arjun has been a leader on court since the season started," said Morgan State coach Matthew Townes. "He's on his farewell tour so I know he's going to leave it all out on the court every match." 

Ramakrishnan recorded a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Giacomo Pezzoli at the No. 4 position to help the Bears rally to a 4-3 win against Hofstra. 

In doubles, Ramakrishnan teamed up with Oguzhan Ceylan to post a victory over Hofstra's team of Ryan Hardin and Giacomo Pezzoli by scores of 6-4.

Ramakrishnan is 4-3 this spring in singles playing in No. 3, 4 and 5 spots in the order, and he is 2-2 playing at No. 3 doubles this spring.

Morgan State is back in action Sunday versus the Villanova Wildcats. The match will be hosted by Navy at the Brigade Sports Complex.
