ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Dec. 7, 2019)-The 2019-20 indoor track and field season got underway on Saturday for the Morgan State Lady Bears, as they competed in the Navy Invitational hosted by the United States Naval Academy at the Wesley Brown Field House.
 
The Lady Bears concluded the day with eight athletes finishing in the top five and had three record ECAC qualifying marks.
 
Leading the way for Morgan State was Infinnati Rowe, who successfully defended her 800 meter run title from a year ago at the Navy Winter Invitational. This year Rowe ran a time of 2:11.60 to again capture the event and also qualify for the ECAC championship meet. Rowe also placed third in the mile run, finishing in a time of 5:09.54.
 
Teammate Jalissa Emmens placed fifth in the 800 meter run, crossing the line in a time of 2:24.19, while also finishing seventh in the mile run in a time of 5:18.05.
 
Dinedye Denis came in second in the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.17 seconds and placed sixth in the 400 meter dash in a time of 57.55 seconds, while Michelle Kamara placed seventh in a time of 58.12 seconds.
 
Morgan State also had solid performances in the field events as well. Diamond Moore finished tied for second in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters.
 
Miazziah Rose and Ayanna Henry each recorded ECAC qualifying marks in the triple jump. Rose had a leap of 11.67m to finish second, while Henry jumped 11.63m to place third.
 
Jannah Sharpe placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.39m.
 
Morgan State will be off until Friday, Jan. 10 when it travels to New York, N.Y. to take part in the HBCU Battle & College Expo.
