NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 18, 2019)-Morgan State sophomore outside hitter
Zoe McBride was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. It is the seventh and final MEAC weekly honor this season for both McBride, who last season earned five MEAC Rookie of the Week selections.

Ashley Roman of Coppin State was named MEAC Rookie of the Week, while Shayla Eugene of Bethune-Cookman earned MEAC Defensive Specialist of the Week and Celene Morris of North Carolina Central received MEAC Setter of the Week honors.

McBride averaged 4.6 kills and 2.4 digs per set and hit a combined .259 in two matches, as the Lady Bears closed out the regular season with a 1-1 week. Â

A native of Ridgefield, Wash., McBride closed out the year picking up her 16th double-double of the year in Sunday's regular-season finale at Delaware State, racking up 16 kills and 14 digs in a win. She would also hit .382 and tallied three blocks in the win over the Hornets. On Friday at Maryland Eastern Shore, McBride posted a match-high 16 kills and had three service aces and a block in the loss.

McBride and the Lady Bears finished the regular-season 16-12 overall and 10-5 in the MEAC. The 16 wins are the most since 2006, when that squad earned 22 wins and advanced to the MEAC title match, while the 10 MEAC victories are the most in school history.

Morgan State claimed the No. 2 seed in the MEAC Northern Division in this weekend's MEAC Volleyball Championship and will face Bethune-Cookman, the third-seed out of the MEAC Southern Division in quarterfinal action on Friday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. at Burr Gymnasium on the campus of Howard University.
