Bailey Named MEAC Player of the Week

BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 18, 2019) --  The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced today that senior Manasseh Bailey earned co-Offensive Player of the Week following the Bears' game against Virginia Lynchburg. The conference honor is the second of the season for Bailey.

Bailey had five catches for 177 yards and four touchdowns in the Bears' 59-26 win over the Virginia Lynchburg Dragons.

He set new Morgan State records with four touchdown receptions in a game, in addition to 10 touchdown catches in a season to move past the previous mark of nine that was set by Jesse Humphrey in 1993. Bailey scored on passing plays of 87, 44, 40 and 11 yards against the Dragons.

The Capitol Heights (Md.) product holds the school's record with 20 career touchdown receptions, a record previously held by Jesse Humphrey (16; 1992-93).

His 177 yards in a game is the sixth-most in school history and was his career-best. Bailey also has the second most receiving yards ever recorded in a season at Morgan State with 944 yards and counting. He ranks No. 5 on the school's all-time reception yards list with 1,979 career yards.

He currently ranks 2nd in the MEAC in receiving yards (944 yds) and reception TDs (10), and 4th in receptions (49).

Bailey will lead the Bears when they conclude the 2019 season on the road against the Howard Bison on Saturday, Nov. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
