BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 29, 2019)-The Morgan State volleyball team closed out the first half of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division slate with a 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 19-25, 25-20) victory over crosstown rival Coppin State on Tuesday night at Hill Field House.

The Lady Bears (12-11, 6-4 MEAC) moved into a tie with Coppin State for second-place in the northern division standings, while improving to 64-12 all-time against the Eagles with the win.

The victory extended Morgan State's season-long winning streak to four, its longest since winning four straight a year ago. It also ended a three-match losing skid to MEAC Northern Division foes, as the Lady Bears ended the first half 2-3 against division competition after going 4-1 in MEAC cross divisional play against the league's southern division members.

Zoe McBride,
Tylar Roberson and
Roi Wallace all recorded double-doubles for Morgan State in the win. McBride finished with a match-high 24 kills and added 14 digs to collect her – double-double of the season. Roberson added 19 kills and 16 digs to earn her – double-double, while Wallace tallied a match-high 51 assists and had 10 digs for her fourth double-double of her senior campaign.

Mykaela Ross chipped in with nine kills and
Sara Brown hit for a team-high .250 with four kills to help Morgan State record 56 kills for the match.
Jennevy Santos notched a match-high 20 digs, as the hosts totaled 72 as a team.

Coppin State (10-14, 6-4 MEAC), who had its season-long three-match winning streak snapped, was led by Miajavon Coleman's 12 kills. Paola Caten and Salma Gonzalez each tallied 10 kills and had 12 digs to record double-doubles. Brianna Lang also collected a double-double, finishing with 41 assists and 10 digs.

The Eagles held an 11.0-5.0 blocking advantage over Morgan State. Christa Johnson and Gonzalez each had a match-best five blocks, including two solos. Lang had three blocks with two solos.

Moragn State was led by Ross, who had three blocks with a solo and
Shadae Debraux finished with two blocks.

The Lady Bears will entertain four-time defending MEAC champion Howard on Friday, Nov. 1 in a MEAC Northern Division contest at 7 p.m. at Hill Field House.

The Lady Bison (12-11, 9-0 MEAC) head into Baltimore unbeaten in league play and are riding a nine-match winning streak. Howard is coming off a 3-2 (25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 20-25, 15-5) win over visiting North Carolina A&T State (11-13, 9-1 MEAC) on Sunday in a battle of MEAC unbeatens and the top teams in the northern and southern divisions. Â
Howard and Morgan State met on Oct. 8 in Washington, D.C. with the Lady Bison claiming a 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-23) victory at Burr Gymnasium. Morgan State leads the all-time series, 37-36, but Howard has won three straight over the Lady Bears and seven of the last eight contests dating back to the 2015 season.
