Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 8, 2018) -- The Morgan State men's tennis team earned its eighth straight victory of the spring, winning in a 4-0 shutout at Howard on Sunday. Playing courts at Banneker Recreation Center, the Bears improved to 9-4 overall, 2-0 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play.
The Bears earned its fourth straight shutout and dropped the Bison to 1-13 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
"It was a great win for us in the conference today," said MSU coach Matthew Townes. "I'm happy the guys stood their ground and really asserted themselves on the opponent."
"We have more work to do, but today is a good day."
Morgan State opened against the Bison by winning the with doubles point. On Court 1, Oguzhan Ceylan and Sebastian Lopez earned a 6-2 victory, and Serhii Kharchev and Nihit Rawal followed with a 6-0 win on Court 3 to seal the point.
In singles, Krusinski beat Cole Gittens 6-2, 7-5, on Court 2. Lopez recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win against Sagar Raju to capture his sixth straight victory. Nihit Rawal finished the shutout on Court 6, where he beat Devaughn Blackburn 6-1, 6-2.
MSU will return to action when they play host to Coppin State on Wednesday at the MSU Tennis Courts. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
