Women’s Tennis Falls To Hampton, 4-2

HAMPTON, Va. (March 31, 2018)-The Morgan State Lady Bears fell in a close Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division match at Hampton on Saturday, dropping the match 4-2.

The Lady Bears (5-10, 1-1 MEAC) started off the match well, capturing the doubles point. Senior Danielle Thompson and sophomore Peggy Rooke won at No. 2 doubles by the score of 6-1, quickly followed by the freshman duo of Alexus Gill and Asmara Faluke who won 6-2.

Thompson continued the momentum into the singles action and got the win at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-4. The Lady Pirates (4-5, 3-0 MEAC) fought back, however, getting the win at No. 2, 3, and 4 singles.

Faluke was in control at No. 5 singles but did not get to finish as the Lady Pirates clinched the overall match with a win at No. 6 singles.

The Lady Bears will be back in action next weekend on Saturday, April 7^th, when they face the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in a MEAC North match, before facing Bucknell in a non-conference match. They will be the first home contests of the season.
