Men's Tennis Earns 5-2 Victory Over Hofstra on Senior Day

Bears win their 10th consecutive match of the season.

BALTIMORE, Md.-- On an afternoon when it honored its two seniors for their four years with the program, the Morgan State men's tennis team cruised to a 5-2 victory over visiting Hofstra at the MSU Tennis Center.
 
Morgan State, winners of their last 10 matches dating back to March 3rd, won the doubles point and three of five singles decisions to upend the Pride. Prior to the match, the Bears celebrated seniors Lucas Krusisnki, who was appearing at home for the final time this weekend.

The Bears (11-4, 3-0 MEAC took the first doubles decisions, with Morgan State's Kharchev and Nihit Rawal winning 6-4 on Court 1 against Marcus Smith and Jan Leithner. The tandem of Arjun Ramakrishnan and Lucas Krusinski dispatching Coco Haener and Nick Silvestri 6-0. 

Hoftstra's (10-7) Marcus Smith had a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ramakrishnan on Court 1 to start singles, but the Bears responded with a 6-1, 6-2 victory by Rawal at No. 4 singles. The Pride recorded another win with Leithner's 6-4, 7-5 decision against Shrey Gupta at No. 3, but the Bears would go on to finish strong.

Krusinski came out on top at the No. 2 spot, defeating Haener in an entertaining 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win. Rawal sealed the victory with in an emphatic 6-1, 6-2 win over Santiago Hass 6-1, 6-2 on Court 5.

"I'm glad we were able to stay undefeated at home, and we made Senior Day for Lucas a memorable one," said MSU coach Matthew Townes. "Hofstra was a short player today, but still put up a hell of a fight. We look to continue our surge tomorrow at Norfolk State. Go Bears."
 
Morgan State is back in action Sunday at Norfolk State. Match time is for 3 p.m.
