BALTIMORE, Md. (March 25, 2018)-The Morgan State women's tennis team concluded their Spring Break trip with two non-conference wins against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division members, North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central.
 
The matches do not count towards the league standings.
 
Morgan State (4-9), which extended its winning streak to a season-long three straight, would defeat North Carolina A&T by a score of 6-1, before closing out the trip with a 5-2 victory against North Carolina Central.
 
On Thursday, March 22^nd, the Lady Bears dropped only one point in their match against the Lady Aggies. Junior Oriane Yeheounou and sophomore Dana Santiago clinched the doubles point for Morgan State in a dramatic match that was decided in a tiebreak at No. 3 doubles.
 
Senior Danielle Thompson then led the way in the singles action, winning in straight sets at the No. 1 position. Sophomore Peggy Rooke then got the third point with another straight sets win at No. 3 singles and Yeheounou clinched the match for the Lady Bears with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 4 rubber.
 
On Friday, the Lady Bears faced another MEAC Southern Division opponent, and again dominated and got the win. Once again, Yeheounou and Santiago clinched the doubles point at the third spot, giving Morgan State an early lead.
 
Rooke and Thompson set the Lady Bears up for victory with straight set wins, and freshman Asmara Faluke then clinched the match at the No. 5 singles, also winning in straight sets.
 
"Our Bears fought really hard today and took care of business," said Townes. "We've won now 3 straight and our confidence is growing. If we stay focused, the sky is the limit for this group of young ladies. One team, one dream." 
 
The Lady Bears will be back in action on Tuesday, March 27, when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to play Saint Joseph's in a non-conference match. Morgan State will return to MEAC Northern Division play on Saturday, March 31, when it visits Hampton.
