Lady Bears Fall to University of Pittsburgh and George Washington, 6-1

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 11, 2018)-The Lady Bears tennis team traveled to Pittsburgh on Saturday, March 10^th for non-conference action. Playing the University of Pittsburgh, Morgan State fell by a score of 6-1 containing a number of close and competitive matches.

The Lady Panthers captured the doubles point through wins on both the No. 1 and 2 positions, and the No. 3 doubles match by default.

At the No. 1 singles position, senior Danielle Thompson got the win for Morgan State with a three set victory over Pittsburgh's No. 1 player and at the No. 3 rubber, junior Oriane Yehouenou pushed her opponent to three sets. On the No. 2 and 5 positions, sophomores Peggy Rooke and Dana Santiago both went back and forth with their opponents in the first set, but eventually fell in straight sets.

In the second match for the weekend, the Lady Bears played George Washington University. George Washington captured the doubles point through wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 rubbers.

Again, the Morgan State women's tennis team got the win through team captain and senior Danielle Thompson. At the No. 1 position, Thompson won in straight sets. One the No. 2 and 3 positions, sophomore Peggy Rooke and junior Oriane Yehouenou both pushed their opponents to a deciding set.

The Lady Colonials closed out the match with a 6-1 win.

The Lady Bears will be back in action in the first match of the outdoor season on March 15^th, facing Loyola Maryland University on the road.
