BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 26, 2018)-Morgan State will return to Hill Field House for the final time this season, when it welcomes crosstown and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rival Coppin State on Monday. The game will also mark 'Senior Night' for five Lady Bears who will be playing in their final home game of their Morgan State careers. Braennan Farrar, Tykyrah Williams, Lexus Spears, Janessa Fauntroy and Tayler Miller will be honored prior to tip-off.
 
BEAR CLAWS: Morgan State (14-13, 7-7 MEAC), losers of two straight, is coming off a 63-60 loss at Hampton on Saturday. Lexus Spears scored a game-high 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting and Tykyrah Williams fell shy of a double-double with 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Braennan Farrar finished with 12 points and four steals. The Lady Bears held a 14-point (48-34) lead following a layup by Spears with 22 seconds remaining. Hampton would go on a 16-0 spurt, while holding Morgan State scoreless for nearly six minutes to take a 54-50 lead with 4:06 to play. Jihayah Chavis hit a three-pointer and Spears followed with a layup to even the score at 58 all with 34 seconds left, but Hampton's Monnazjea Finney-Smith hit a three-pointer to give the hosts a 61-58 lead. Chavis scored on a layup to cut the lead to a point and Hampton would close out the game with two free throws for the win. Spears has paced the Lady Bears with 13.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Farrar is averaging 11.9 points, while Williams is scoring 10.9 points. Adre'onia Coleman is grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game to go with 9.4 points. The Lady Bears are averaging 61.8 points per game and surrendering 61.1 points to its opponents.
 
BIRD SEEDS: Coppin State (6-20, 5-9 MEAC) enters the game on a six-game losing skid after dropping a 70-66 loss at Delaware State on Feb. 19.  Chance Graham recorded a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds, both game highs. Candice Beverly finished with 14 points and Genesis Lucas and Oluwadamilol Oloyede each added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Coppin State has been led by Lucas, who is averaging 16 points and has tallied a team-leading 111 assists and 72 steals. Graham is contributing 13.2 points to go with a team-best 10.8 rebounds. The Lady Eagles are scoring 55.1 points per game, but allowing 70.4 points per game. Coppin State is winless on the road this season at 0-15.
 
MSU VS. COPPIN STATE SERIES NOTES: Coppin State holds a 41-32 all-time series lead over Morgan State. The Lady Eagles won the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season, 55-53 at Coppin State's Physical Education Complex (1/20).
 
NEXT UP: Morgan State will close out the regular season on Thursday, March 1 at Delaware State. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Dover, Del.
 
NOT UP IN HERE: The Lady Bears, who have been excellent at home this season, fell to 9-3, following their 64-67 overtime loss to Bethune-Cooman (2/19). The Lady Bears who started out 8-0 at home this season, however, have now lost three of its last four home contests. Morgan State was riding a nine-game home winning streak dating back to last season, before falling to Delaware State, 64-52 on Jan. 22, 2018 for its first home loss.
 
ROAD WOES: Morgan fell to a combined 5-10 (including loss to Iowa at neutral site) away from Hill Field House this season, following Saturday's 63-60 loss at Hampton (2/24). The loss ended the Lady Bears' three-game road winning streak.
 
GOOD RIDDANCE: Saturday's contest marked the final MEAC regular season meeting between Morgan State and Hampton. On Nov. 16, 2017 Hampton University, which joined the MEAC in 1995, announced that it will leave the conference and join the Big South Conference for the 2018-19 athletic season. The Lady Pirates would defeat the Lady Bears, 63-60 to earn their 14th straight victory over Morgan State.
 
WILLIAMS JOINS 1,000 PTS/500 REBS CLUB: Tykyrah Williams became the seventh Lady Bear player to join the 1,000 points and 500 rebounds club at Morgan State. Williams scored her 1,001st point at home against Bethune-Cookman (2/19). Williams became the 12th player to record 500 rebounds at Morgan State when she pulled down seven boards at N.C. A&T (1/13) to give her 501 for her career. Williams currently has 1,014 points and 562 rebounds for her career.
 
SPEARS JOINS 500 REBOUND CLUB: Senior forward Lexus Spears pulled down six rebounds against South Carolina State (1/29), giving her 501 career rebounds at Morgan State to become the 13th Lady Bear to grab 500 rebounds. Spears, who played in just three games last season due to an injury, has pulled down a team-leading 200 rebounds this season for an average of 7.4 rebounds per game. She grabbed five boards at Hampton (2/24) and now has 553 career rebounds.
 
FARRAR ON THE RISE: Braennan "BeBe" Farrar continues to make her move up several of Morgan State's statistical charts. Farrar, who has scored 1,531 is now six points away from passing former Lady Bear Tracey Carrington (1,336 points from 2011-15) for third-place all-time in scoring at Morgan State. On Feb. 19, Farrar recorded three assists against Bethune-Cookman to move into second-place all-time at Morgan State in assists with 342. She now has 345 assists. The St. Louis, Mo. native currently sits in fourth-place all-time in steals at Morgan State with 265.
 
MORGAN AND COPPIN IN HOME FINALE: The Lady Bears and crosstown rival Coppin State will meet in the home finale for organ State on Monday, Feb. 26. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. at Hill Field House. The contest will also mark 'Senior Day' for Tykyrah Williams, Tayler Miller, Braennan Farrar, Janessa Fauntroy and Lexus Spears, who will wear the 'Orange and Blue' for the final time at Hill Field House.
 
HOLD UM UNDER 60 POINTS: Morgan State improved to 12-1 this season when holding its opponents under 60 points, following a 59-44 victory at Florida A&M (2/12). During the Lady Bears' season-long  four-game winning streak (Dec. 28-Jan. 8), Morgan State held three of those opponents to under 60 points. Of those 12 victories, three times (Lincoln-Pa., Central Connecticut, Savannah State) the Lady Bears surrendered an opponent low 41 points.
 
 2018 MEAC TOURNAMENT: The 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men's and women's basketball tournament is scheduled for March 5-10 at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.
