BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 14, 2018)-The Morgan State University women's tennis team traveled to Richmond, Va. on Wednesday to play Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in a non-conference match that had been rescheduled for Valentine's Day. The match was originally scheduled for January 14 but was canceled. The Lady Bears would fall 7-0 to the Lady Rams, who claimed all six singles matches and all three doubles.
Senior
Danielle Thompson stood out with an impressive performance at the number one rubber, as she came close to taking her match to a deciding set against VCU'
s number one player, Anna Rasmussen, before falling 6-2, 7-5.
"We didn't play well over all today," said Morgan State head coach
Matthew Townes. "VCU is one of the best teams we will face all season, and we didn't show up to battle, besides number 1. Danielle [Thompson] fought very hard, but ultimately fell short. We had a couple of weeks without competition, and I hope that's why we were flat. We look to bounce back with better play this weekend at JMU."
The Lady Bears will be back in action Saturday, February 1, when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to play the James Madison University Lady Dukes.
