DURHAM, N.C. - After taking the doubles point the Morgan State men's tennis team fell in a hard fought 4-3 match to North Carolina Central on Wednesday (March 23) at the NCCU Tennis Courts in Durham, North Carolina. 
 
"Today we came up a bit short on a few points, especially in doubles, that would have been the difference maker in the match," said head coach Matthew Townes. "The doubles point proved to be the difference and unfortunately we didn't close out how we would have liked."

Morgan State's (2-11) duo of Nihit Rawl and Ondrej Labik claimed the No. 3 doubles spot with a 6-1 win. Arjun Ramakrishnan and Sagar Sathyanarayanan fell in the No. 2 doubles, and the No. 1 doubles team of Jeremy Field and Lucas Krusinski were upended in a tough 7-6 (7-4) match.

The two teams split the singles competition by winning three matches apiece.

Labik, the MEAC's reigning Rookie of the Week, continued his solid play by turning in a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Davide Callegari at No. 3 singles. Krusinski also contributed a win at No. 4 singles by posting a 6-2, 6-3 win over Maksym Konovalov. Rawal claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Sebastian Bromley at No. 5.

"NCCU may be a team we play at the conference tournament, so we are definitely using this match to learn and grow from."

Morgan State (2-11) will return to action when they face the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks (8-4) on Saturday, March 25.
