BALTIMORE, Md. (March 21, 2017)-The Morgan State women's tennis team began Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schedule with a 6-1 neutral site victory over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday afternoon in Durham, N.C. The win marked the third straight win for the Lady Bears.
The Lady Bears (3-11, 1-0 MEAC) would sweep the Hawks (0-6, 0-2 MEAC) in all five of their singles' wins in straight sets without surrendering a point. Morgan's lone loss would come at No. 6 singles by way of default. Morgan State then won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
"We are really playing well right now and it's just the beginning of our outdoor matches," said Morgan State head tennis coach
Matthew Townes. "Continued mental toughness, as well as the focus on consistency and footwork, will be vital as we move through the second half of our season."
The Lady Bears continue their Spring Break swing through North Carolina, when they visit Campbell for a tough non-conference match on Tuesday, March 21 in Buies Creek, N.C.
