BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 17, 2017)-The Lady Bears, who are in the midst of a season-long three-game winning streak, will host the Savannah State Lady Tigers this afternoon at Hill Field House. It will be the second meeting this season between the two teams, as the Lady Tigers won the first meeting, 66-62 in overtime in Savannah, Ga. (1/21).

BEAR CLAWS: Morgan State (5-19, 3-8 MEAC) enters the contest on a three-game winning streak, after holding off Howard on Monday evening in Washington, D.C.
Tykyrah Williams, who finished with a team-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, knocked down two free throws with .4 seconds remaining on the clock to give the Lady Bears a 73-72 victory.
Zuri White recorded a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 14 rebounds and
Chelsea Mitchell added 13 points, while
Braennan Farrar totaled 10 points. Farrar leads the Lady Bears with 12 points per game, while Williams is adding 10.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per outing. White leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per contest.

TIGER STRIPES: Savannah State (10-14, 7-4 MEAC) is currently on a four-game winning streak after recording a 91-48 victory over Allen on Monday. Kenyata Hendrix recorded her second career double-double with a game-high 19 points and a game-high 13 assists. Edwards tied a career-high with 18 points and added sis rebounds. SSU has been led by Hendrix, who is scoring 11.4 points and leads the Tigers with 67 assists and 31 steals. Moss is averaging 11.2 points per game, while Davis leads the Lady Tigers in rebounds (8.9) and blocked shots (88).

MSU VS. SSU SERIES NOTES: Savannah State took a 5-4 all-time series lead, following a 66-62 overtime victory earlier this season over visiting Morgan State at Tiger Arena (1/21).

NEXT UP: Morgan State will visit the Delaware State Hornets for a on MEAC game on Monday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Dover, Del. It will be the second meeting between the two teams in a nine-day span. The Lady Bears won the first meeting, 74-47 in Baltimore (2/11).

THREE STRAIGHT: Morgan State recorded its first three game-winning streak of the season, following its thrilling 73-72 victory at Howard on Monday. It's the first multi-game winning streak since the Lady Bears won five straight last season from Jan. 30-Feb. 13.

MOVING UP: Braennan Farrar scored 10 points in the win at Howard (2/13), giving her 1,117 points for her career, which ties her with former Lady Bear Carla Thomas (1,117 points from 1984-87) for 10th-place.

NOT ENOUGH TIME: The last two contests between Morgan State and Savannah State have gone into overtime, as the two teams have played a total of four overtime periods in their last two meetings. Last season Morgan State defeated the Tigers, 66-60 in triple overtime in Savannah (2/6). Earlier this season Savannah needed overtime to defeat the Lady Bears, 66-62 also at Tiger Arena (1/21).
SECOND HALF TURNAROUND: After dropping their first eight MEAC contests and going winless in the month of January, Morgan State has since won their first three games during the second half of the conference slate and is a perfect 3-0 in the month of February.
SEE YOU SOON: Morgan State and Delaware State will meet twice this season in a span of nine days. The two will close out their regular season series on Monday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Dover, Del. The two teams previously met on Feb. 11 in Baltimore.

ROAD STRUGGLES: The Lady Bears have struggled on the road this season and are 2-14 away from Hill Field House, following a huge 73-72 victory at Howard (2/13). The win ended an eight-game road losing skid. Morgan State's previous road victory came at Maryland Baltimore County (12/7), a 69-62 win.

ALL FIVE INVOLVED: For the first time this season, all five starters scored in double figures in the Lady Bears' victory over Delaware State (2/11). Morgan State's starting five combined for 56 of the 74 points scored in a 74-47 win over the Hornets.
Zuri White, Jihaya Chavis and
Braennan Farrar all scored 12 points, while
Chelsea Mitchell and
Tykyrah Williams each added 10 points.

IT'S OVER: The Lady Bears' season-long 13-game losing streak came to an end, following a 44-42 victory over North Carolina Central (2/4). The streak surpassed the five-game losing skid Morgan State had earlier in the season and was the longest losing skid for the program since the 2013-14 squad lost 15 consecutive games.

IT TAKES A THEIF: The Lady Bears have recorded 256 steals as a team in 23 games played thus far, surpassing the 249 steals a season ago in 30 games played. Breannan Farrar leads the way with a team-best 52, while
Tykyrah Williams has 33 steals.
Chelsea Mitchell,
Jihayah Chavis and
Jayde Duncan are adding 30, 30 and 26 steals, respectively.

MEAC STREAK COMES TO AN END: The Lady Bears picked up their first MEAC victory of the season with a 44-42 victory over North Carolina Central (2/4) at Hill Field House. Prior to the victory, Morgan State had dropped its last 11 straight MEAC regular season contests, dating back to the last three games from the 2015-16 season. Ironically Morgan State's previous regular season MEAC victory also came against North Carolina Central (2/20/16), a 66-55 victory at home.

MORGAN AND COPPIN IN HOME FINALE: The Lady Bears and crosstown rival Coppin State will meet in the home finale for Morgan State on Monday, Feb. 27. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. at Hill Field House. The contest will also mark 'Senior Day' for
Ivy Harrington, and former Lady Bear and manager
Britashia Burns. Graduate student
Jayde Duncan will also be playing in her final home game.

LADY BEARS ASSIST ORANGEBURG COMMUNITY: During the Lady Bears' trip to Orangeburg, SC (1/22-23), the team took some time out to collect and donate toiletries to go towards helping a total of 10 families get back on their feet after they were recently displaced when the Roosevelt Gardens apartment complex caught fire a week earlier in the Orangeburg area.
