BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 10, 2016)-Arden Fisher finished with 14 kills and 17 digs, both match-highs to record a double-double, as Robert Morris defeated Morgan State 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-11) in the Maddie Bingaman Memorial Tournament on Saturday afternoon at RAC Arena.
Allie Yurkovich finished with 10 digs and Brianna Frakes had 24 assists for the Colonials, who improved to 5-4 on the season.
Morgan State (0-9) was led by Keana Browne's nine kills and Haley McClure added eight and 10 digs. Jasmine Hubbard had a team-high 12 digs for the Lady Bears and Roi Wallace finished with a match-high 26 assists.
The Lady Bears held a 10-8 lead, before the Robert Morris Colonials scored seven straight points to take a 15-10 advantage. Morgan State would get within 18-17, but the Colonials would score four straight to push their lead to 22-17. The Lady Bears responded with three straight to trail 22-20 and later got within a point at 24-23. However, a ball handling call on Morgan State would give Robert Morris the 25-23 victory. Â
Robert Morris broke an 8-8 tie in the second set by using a 7-0 spurt to take a 15-8 advantage. The Colonials took a 22-14 lead after using a 5-2 run and then scored the last three points for the 25-16 victory.
The Colonials led 15-8 in the third set, before going on a 7-2 spurt to take a 22-11 lead and all but put the match away. The Colonials would score the last three points on the set to defeat Morgan State 25-11 and sweep the match.
Robert Morris finished the contest with 10 service aces and had seven service errors. Morgan State had no aces and five service errors.Â
Morgan State closes out the Maddie Bingaman Memorial Tournament later this evening with a match-up against Winthrop at 5:30 p.m.
