WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Junior Sagar Sathyanarayanan clinched Morgan State University men's tennis team's fourth straight victory as the Bears knocked off the Howard Bison 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation Southeast DC Campus. It not only marks MSU's longest winning streak of the season, it's also the Bears' longest winning streak since 2008 -- a season in which they recorded eight consucutive wins.Sathyanarayanan fought back to earn a 6-2, 0-6, 10-8 decision over Nico Sorrell at No. 6 singles.
Morgan State's (7-9) duo of sophomore Lucas Krusinski and senior Evan Ward did win at No. 3 doubles, but Morgan State lost at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Treajh Ferguson fell to Ismael Kaoache 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, but outside of that it was all Blue & Orange for the rest of the afternoon. The Bears posted victories in five of the six singles matches.
Freshman Jeremy Field defeated William Jones 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2, while Ward made quick work beating Laguna Foster 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. At No. 4 singles, freshman Arjun Ramakrishnan held on to a 6-3, 6-2 over Myron Davis and Krusinski cruised to a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory against Spencer Kelly at No. 5.Morgan State will return to action on Tuesday, April 5 with a home contest against cross-town rival Coppin State.
