NORFOLK, Va. (April 21, 2016)-The Morgan State women's tennis team dropped its 2016 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tennis Championship quarterfinal match to the Florida A&M Rattlers on Wednesday morning at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on the campus of Old Dominion University.

The Lady Bears, who entered the championship as the No. 3 seed out of the MEAC Northern Division, finish the season 7-11 overall.

FAMU (9-11), the second-seed out of the MEAC Southern Division, advances to Friday's semifinal match against North Carolina Central at 9 a.m. The fourth-seeded Eagles (6-12) out of the southern division knocked off the top-seed in the northern division, Norfolk State by a score of 4-2 on Thursday.

The Rattlers secured the doubles point after claiming all three matches by way of default. FAMU then took a 2-0 lead by earning a default win at No. 6 singles.

Morgan State's lone win came from
Danielle Thompson, who defeated FAMU's Shantel Blackwood in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Kayla Price lost to Olivia Rolle at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2 and
Cierra Plummer dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Dominique Henry of Florida A&M at No. 4 singles.
