BALTIMORE, Md. -- Morgan State men's tennis faced its toughest test of the young season Friday at Greenspring Courts when the Bears fell 5-4 to the nation's No. 12 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays.
The Bears started off by dropping two of the three doubles matches, beginning with Treahj Ferguson and
Felix Andre being outlasted 9-8 (4-0) by Jeremy Dubin and Mike Buxbaum at No. 1. At No. 2, the Bears duo of
Lucas Krusinski and
Evan Ward fell 8-3, before
Jeremy Field and
Arjun Ramakrishnan recorded an 8-3 win at No. 3. Field and Ramakrishnan improved to 3-2 in doubles this season.
Morgan State practically battled to a virtual stalemate in the singles competition. Mike Buxbaum led the Blue Jays with a 7-6 (2-0), 6-0 win at No. 1 against Ferguson, and Ward dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Scott Thygesen at No. 3. The Bears posted a pair of hard-fought wins as Andre ultimately dropped Nicholas Garcia 6-7 (0-4), 6-2, 1-0 (5-0) at No. 4, and Ramakrishnan pulled out a 6-4,7-5 (5-0) victory against Justin Kang at No. 5.
Krusinski was leading by a set against Emerson Walsh before eventually falling 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8-0).Â
