(March 24, 2016)-The Morgan State softball team will look to match and possibly set a new season-high winning streak, when it visits Mount St. Mary's for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon in Emmitsburg, Md. First pitch is at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of the Meadows Field.
Morgan State (5-16) enters the contest coming off an 8-2 victory over Hampton in the series finale last Sunday in Hampton, Va. to open up Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play. The win ended a three-game losing skid, including the first two games of the series against the Lady Pirates.
The Mountaineers (4-19) ended a four-game losing skid with its doubleheader sweep of visiting Coppin State (10-2 and 12-1) on Tuesday. It was the home opener for Mount St. Mary's. The wins marked the sixth straight over Coppin State, as the Mountaineers improved to 28-5 all-time against the Lady Eagles.
Morgan State and the Mountaineers met earlier this month at the UMBC Spring Classic on March 11 with the Lady Bears claiming a 6-1 victory. The win was the second straight for Morgan State in the series and evened the all-time series at 12-12.
