BALTIMORE, Md. – The Morgan State men's tennis team posted a 4-3 road victory against Loyola Wednesday afternoon at the McClure Tennis Center. The Bears improved its record to 3-7 for the season.
Loyola picked up the match's opening point with a sweep of doubles play.
Blest Jones and Brett Shriver knocked off
Felix Andre and
Treajh Ferguson, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles, and Connor Pietrak and Alex Castro teamed for a 7-5 win over
Jeremy Field and
Arjun Ramakrishnan at No. 2.
Jordan Kuchta and C.J. Cash completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory over
Evan Ward and
Lucas Krusinski at No. 3.
Despite the Greyhounds sweeping the doubles point, the Bears absolutely stayed hungry for singles.
The Bears rallied for the match victory with wins in the one, two, four and five singles slots.
Treajh Ferguson had a tight affair in defeating Loyola's Jordan Kuchta 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 spot, MSU's
Jeremy Field was able to get on the board by closing out Tyler Blessing 6-1, 6-4. Fellow Bear
Evan Ward made sure to finish off his Greyhound opponent with a 6-2, 7-6 (4) win, topping Connor Pietrak.
Arjun Ramakrishnan rounded out the singles wins for the Bears by recorded a 6-1, 7-6 (5) victory over Alex Castro.
Next Up: The Bears are back in action on Saturday, March 19 when they travel to face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (11-2, 2-0 Big South) in Conway, S.C.
