Box Score 2 DOVER, Del. (April 4, 2015)-The Morgan State softball team finally opened up the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) slate with a doubleheader at Delaware State on Saturday afternoon. Morgan State would drop the first contest 4-1, before earning an 8-3 victory at the Hornets Nest. The third and final game of the three-game series will be made up at a later date.

The Lady Bears (2-19, 1-1 MEAC) ended a nine-game losing skid with the Game 2 victory. It was their first win since a 7-4 win over Alabama A&M on March 8. Delaware State improved to 7-19 and 1-4 in the MEAC.

Trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Bears loaded the bases when
Zina Constancia singled to pitcher. However, Delaware State pitcher Tara Tursellino, who finished with a career-high nine strikeouts, struckout Nicole Holquin to end the game.

Morgan State's lone run in the opening game came in the fourth, when
Claudette Tanabe-Smith doubled to left field to drive in
Kate Vosper, who drew a walk earlier in the inning.                                                                                               Â

In Game 2, Vosper would go 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored to lead the Lady Bears. The Lady Bears would break a 3-3 game, by erupting for five runs in the top of the fifth inning for the game's final score.

Morgan State returns to action on Wednesday, April 8, when it hosts Hampton in a MEAC doubleheader at 3 p.m. at Lois T. Murray Field. The two teams will wrap up their series with a single game on Thursday, April 9 at 3 p.m.
