MSU Men's Tennis Splits a Pair of Home Games

Bears Fall to Johns Hopkins, Drops UMES

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Morgan State men's tennis team recently split a pair of matches. The Bears suffered a 6-1 setback to 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins Monday afternoon, and responded with a 7-0 domination of conference opponent Maryland Eastern Shore Tuesday at the MSU Tennis Courts. The Bears are now 3-10 on the season and 3-0 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
 
The Bears had a hard time against Johns Hopkins. Hopkins took a 2-1 lead after doubles with wins at second and third. Jeremy Dubin and Emerson Walsh defeated Lucas Krusinski and Sagar Sathyanarayanan at second doubles. Jensen Reiter and Ben Hwang earned an 8-6 win over Treajh Ferguson and Felix Andre at third. The Bears got their point at first as Evan Ward and Duk Young-Park beat Tanner Brown and Erik Lim, 8-3.
 
In singles play, the Blue Jays won five of six matches with a pair of victories coming in three sets. Duk Young-Park posted the Bears' lone singles point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at second over Ben Hwang.
 
The Bears made quick work of visiting UMES on an overcast Tuesday afternoon. The Bears picked up its third conference win to remain undefeated in the MEAC North Division. Duk Young-Park ran his singles record to 9-3 overall (8-1 at No. 2) after defeating Nicholas Brobst 6-0, 6-0. Evan Ward dropped Michael Cha 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, Sagar won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3, while Malcolm Berry rounded out the singles wins at No. 4.
 
The No. 1 doubles duo of Ward and Young-Park posted an 8-0 win over Cha and Brobst, and Lucas Krusinski and William Jay finished off the Hawks with an 8-0 win over Devin Outten and Edwin Kanu to help capture the doubles point.

Morgan State wil close its homestand with a non-conference matchup against St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday, April 10th. The match will mark Senior Day for Bear seniors Duk Young-Park and William Jay who will be playing in their final collegiate home contest.
