BALTIMORE, Md. – The Morgan State men's tennis team was shutout by UMBC 7-0 at Greenspring Racquet Club.
The Bears are still in search of their first win of the season and currently stand at 0-6 to open the 2015 season.
Justin Carter and Elliott Loubatie set the tone for the match with a 6-0 blanking of their foes at No. 3 doubles. Melker Svard and Jaan Kononov clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 triumph over Erick Ward and Treajh Ferguson.
Loubatie went 18-for-18 in games played as he cruised over William Jay at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. His doubles partner, Carter finished second in singles, besting Lucas Krusinski, 6-2, 6-1. Svard clinched the match for the Retrievers at the No. 3 flight, upending Felix Andre, 6-0, 6-2.
The Bears return to action Wednesday, March 18 when they host the Loyola Greyhounds.
