BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 25, 2015)-The Morgan State volleyball team improved to 4-2 on the season at home, following a 3-0 () sweep of visiting Norfolk State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division contest on Sunday afternoon at Hill Field House. Morgan State moved into sole possession of second-place in the league standings with the win.

The victory also gave the Lady Bears a season sweep of the Spartans, their first over Norfolk State since the 2011 season and was also the third consecutive 3-0 victory for Morgan State at home this season. Â

Morgan State (9-13, 6-2 MEAC) was led by
Keana Browne, who tallied a career-best .833 hitting percentage with a match-high 11 kills on 12 attempts.
Evely Macedo added 10 kills and
Dinah Jones and
Haley McClure each recorded eight kills.
Samantha Prescott totaled a match-high nine digs, while
Carmen Fernandez added eight digs to go with her match-high 32 assists.

The Lady Bears finished the match with 6.0 blocks. Macedo, Browne and Jones all had three blocks apiece to lead Morgan State.

Norfolk State (2-18, 1-6 MEAC) was led by Angie Darcus, who totaled nine kills. Hope Forsythe led the squad with seven digs and Darcy Moore collected 20 assists. Moore and Alex Irizarry each had two service aces to lead the Spartans, who had six aces as a team.

Morgan State, which had 41 kills and a hitting percentage of .392 for the match, jumped on the Spartans early, recording 14 kills on 21 attempts with just two errors for a .571 hitting percentage in Set 1. The Lady Bears then tallied 15 kills and had a .333 percentage in the second set, before earning a .320 hitting percentage with 12 kills in the final set.

Trailing two sets to none, Norfolk State took a 12-8 lead in the third set, following a service ace by Morgan State. The Lady Bears then responded with a 7-0 run to take a 15-12 lead. A 5-2 spurt by the Lady Bears gave the hosts their largest lead of the set at 20-14, as Morgan State cruised to a 25-18 victory.

The Lady Bears return to action on Friday, Oct. 30 when they travel to Princess Anne, Md. to take on the Lady Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
