BALTIMORE, Md. (Dec. 11, 2014)-The Lady Bears return home for the final time in 2014 when they play host to Stony Brook in a non-conference game on Saturday, Dec. 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Hill Field House. This will be the sixth meeting between the two teams with the Seawolves holding a 4-1 all-time series lead.
 
BEAR CLAWS: The Lady Bears (2-7, 0-2 MEAC) had their season long losing skid reach five straight, following a 63-43 loss at Hampton on Monday. Freshman Braennan Farrar led Morgan State with a career-high 16 points, while adding a game-high three steals. Fellow freshmen Eva Myers and Tykyrah Williams each added six points and sophomore Danielle Robinson grabbed a team-high six rebounds in the loss. Morgan State has been led by senior Tracey Carrington, who is averaging 19.3 points per game, which ranks third in the MEAC. Carrington, who has not played in two-and-a-half games since getting injured prior to halftime in the Bucknell game, also ranks second in rebounding (5.1 per game), assists (15) and steals (15). Farrar is averaging nine points per contest, while sophomore Ivy Harrington is coming off the bench to contribute 7.5 per outing. Harrington leads the MEAC in field goal percentage at 57.4 (27-of-47). Junior Dinah Jones, who has played in the last three games since rejoining the team following the volleyball season, is averaging a team-leading 5.7 rebounds per game for Morgan State.
 
ABOUT THE SEAWOLVES: Stony Brook (3-5), which started out the season winning three of its first four games, has since lost four straight, following Sunday's 74-64 road loss at Iowa State. It marked the fourth game of a five-game road swing for the Stony Brook. Sabre Proctor scored a team-high 16 points for the Seawolves against Iowa State. It was the 50th career double-digit scoring performance for Proctor, who has scored in double figures in all eight games this season. Jessica Ogunnorin scored 15 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, while Brittany Snow added 12 points. The Seawolves have been led by Proctor, who is averaging 16.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Ogunnorin is averaging 11.1 points and a team-leading 7.6 rebounds per game, while Snow is second in rebounding with seven per game and is adding 9.9 points per contest.
 
MSU VS. STONY BROOK SERIES NOTES: Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 4-1. Last season the Seawolves defeated Morgan State 79-55 in New York (11/25/13). Morgan State's lone win against Stony Brook was a 66-63 overtime victory in Baltimore (11/18/12).
 
LADY BEARS VS. THE AMERICA EAST: Morgan State is 11-21 all-time against members of the America East Conference. Here's how the Lady Bears have done against the America East: Albany (0-2), Binghamton (0-1), Hartford (0-1), New Hampshire (0-1), Stony Brook (1-4), UMBC (10-12)  Morgan State has not faced Maine, Massachusetts-Lowell or Vermont.
  
NEXT UP: The Lady Bears will return to non-conference action to close out the 2014 year, when the travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. to take part in the Christmas Classic (Dec. 20-21) hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The Lady Bears will face host Chattanooga on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 4 p.m. at McKenzie Arena. This will be the only regular season tournament for Morgan State this season.
 
BEASLEY FOUR WINS SHY OF SCHOOL RECORD: Morgan State head coach Donald Beasley, who is in his 10th year at the helm of the Lady Bears, is four wins shy of becoming the program's all-time coaching leader. Beasley, who currently ranks second on the school's all-time list with a mark of 119-162, earned his second win of the season against Washington Adventists (11/20). LaRue Fields (122-60 from 1979-85) is the school's all-time leader.
 
SPEARS, MYERS HAVE CAREER OUTINGS AT NORFOLK STATE: Fellow freshmen Lexus Spears and Eva Myers each tallied career highs in scoring at Norfolk State (12/6). Spears scored a team- and career-high 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting and tied a team-high seven rebounds and added two steals. Her 15 points surpassed her previous high of 13 points against Wesley (11/18). Myers scored 13 points to surpass her previous mark of seven points at Georgia Tech (11/16). Myers also knocked down all four of the Lady Bears' three-pointers against Norfolk State.
 
MORGAN STATE IN MEAC OPENERS: The Lady Bears fell to 5-5 in MEAC openers under head coach Donald Beasley, following a 68-63 road loss at Norfolk State (12/6). The Norfolk State contest marked just the fifth time in 16 seasons that the Lady Bears did not open the MEAC season against crosstown rival Coppin State.
 
TRACKING CARRINGTON: Tracey Carrington entered the season with 1,137 career points, which ranked ninth all-time at Morgan State. Carrington, who ranks seventh at Morgan State, scored a team-high 12 points at Bucknell (12/3) to give her 1,272 points for her career. She is now 16 points shy of passing former Lady Bear Whitney Cunningham (1,287 points from 2004-07) for sixth-place. She now needs 303 more points to move into second all-time in scoring at Morgan State.
 
PROVIDING ASSISTANCE: Freshman Braennan Farrar scored a career-high 16 points, but was held to just one assist at Hampton (12/8), giving her a team-leading 24 assists through nine games. Farrar recorded a season-high nine assists in the win over Wesley (11/18). As a team the Lady Bears recorded 19 assists in that game.
 
DOUBLE DUTY: Junior forward Dinah Jones has been going nonstop since stepping foot on the Morgan State campus in early August of 2012 for her freshman season. The 6-foot-1 native of Annapolis, Md. is also a three-year letterwinner on the Morgan State volleyball team. Jones averaged 5.2 points and was second on the team in rebounding (5.2) and third in steals (33) last season. She also added 20 assists and five blocks. This season on the volleyball court, she helped the Lady Bears to a 13-13 regular season mark, 6-6 in the MEAC Northern Division and the team's first appearance in the conference championship tournament since 2011. Jones led the team in blocks with 64 for this and was third in kills with 213, both season-bests. Jones rejoined the basketball team for their road game at Bucknell (12/3) and finished with five rebounds, two points and a steal in 15 minutes of action.
  
HARRINGTON SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR SHOTS MADE: Ivy Harrington connected on her first four shots in the win over Wesley (11/18), to set the school record for consecutive baskets made (two or more attempts per game) at 14 straight. She began the streak in the opener against Georgia (11/14) when she scored on her final attempt of the game, then shot a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor at Georgia Tech (11/16). Her streak came to an end at the 6:07 mark of the first half against Wesley, when she missed on her fifth attempt, a jumper from the right side. Harrington currently leads the MEAC in field goal percentage at 57.4 (27-of-47).
