(Nov. 19, 2014)-The Morgan State women's basketball team will close out its two-game homestand when it welcomes Washington Adventist to Hill Field House for a non-conference contest on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. The contest will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

BEAR CLAWS: The Lady Bears (1-2) opened up their home slate on Tuesday with a 90-50 victory over Wesley.
Tracey Carrington scored a game-high 27 points, giving her 1,197 career points to move past Adrienne Bond (1,190 points from 1982-86). Carrington also added nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Lexus Spears collected her first double-double as a Lady Bear, finishing with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Ivy Harrington came off the bench and scored 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Harrington made her first four shot attempts to set the school record for consecutive baskets made (two or more attempts) at 14 straight. Harrington also recorded five of Morgan State's 17 steals. The Lady Bears forced Wesley into 30 turnovers.
Braennan Farrar had a game-high nine assists, as Morgan State tallied 19 assists for the game.

SHOCK TRAMA: Washington Adventist (2-2), a member of the Association of Independent Institutions, ended a two-game losing skid with a 52-44 win over Messiah on Tuesday. Courtney Cayard scored a game-high 22 points for the Shock, including 6-of-9 shooting from three-point range. Chelsey Scott added nine points, while J. Brown-McDaniel and Courtney Jenkins each grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

HARRINGTON SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR SHOTS MADE: Ivy Harrington connected on her first four shots in Tuesday's win over Wesley, to set the school record for consecutive baskets made (two or more attempts per game) at 14 straight. Harrington began the streak in the opener against Georgia (11/14) when she scored on her final attempt of the game, then shot a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor at Georgia Tech (11/16). Her streak came to an end at the 6:07 mark of the first half against Wesley, when she missed on her fifth attempt, a jumper from the right side.

MAKE IT A DOUBLE: Freshman
Lexus Spears recorded the first double-double of her young career when she totaled 13 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, both of which are season-bests.

WILLIAMS NAMED MEAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Freshman
Tykyrah Williams was named MEAC Rookie of the Week by the league office on Monday. A native of Durham, N.C., Williams scored a season-best thus far 13 points on the road at Georgia Tech (11/16). Williams also added a team-high five rebounds three assists and a team-high three steals against the Yellow Jackets.

HARRINGTON SETS CAREER-HIGH AT GEORGIA TECH: Morgan State sophomore
Ivy Harrington finished a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor and scored a career-high 20 points at Georgia Tech (11/16/14). The nine field goals was also a career-best. Harrington also added four rebounds.

WELCOME TO "THE A": The Lady Bears made just their second trip to Atlanta in ten years under head coach
Donald Beasley when they square off against the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets on Sunday, Nov. 16. It will also be the Lady Bears' first trip back to the city also known as Hotlanta and The Big Peach since the 2009-10 season when Morgan State participated in the Georgia State Tournament. This will be the first meeting between Morgan State and Georgia Tech.

LADY BEARS TAKE IN NBA GAME: Before heading over to Athens, Ga., for its season-opener against the University of Georgia, the Morgan State women's basketball team spent the first night of their five-day road trip in Atlanta and attended the Atlanta Hawks-Utah Jazz game on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Phillips Arena. The home team Hawks would hold on for a 100-97 victory.

BEASLEY FIVE WINS SHY OF SCHOOL RECORD: Entering his 10th year at the helm at Morgan State, head coach
Donald Beasley enters the 2014-15 season needing six victories to become the program's all-time coaching leader. Beasley, who currently ranks second on the school's all-time list with a mark of 118-157. LaRue Fields (122-60 from 1979-85) is the school's all-time leader.

MORGAN IN SEASON OPENERS: The Lady Bears, who will opened up the 2014-15 campaign on the road for the first time in three years, fell to 10-28 all-time in season openers dating back to 1977, following its 68-32 setback at Georgia (11/14). Morgan State at one point had lost 23 straight season openers, prior to winning three straight from 2006-08. Last season the Lady Bears opened up at home and suffered a 94-86 overtime loss to Division II Lincoln-Pa.
