Shayla Clark enters her final season as a member of the Morgan State Cheerleading Squad, and her third as a team captain. The Bowie native has helped play a key role in the Cheer Bears garnering four-straight MEAC Cheerleading Championships, in addition to an historic 2^nd place finish at the NCA Cheer Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida – the highest result by any HBCU (Historically Black Colleges & Universities).
 
Clark has been just as impressive in the classroom, where she has been a scholar-athlete and has maintained over a 3.0 grade point average while pursuing a degree in nursing.
 
Student Life
Where is the best place to study on campus? The third floor in the back of the library.
 
Why did you choose to major in Nursing? O chose my major to help lower premature birth rates.
My favorite class at Morgan State is? My favorite class has to be Sociology 101.
Favorite professor and why? My favorite professor is Dr. Moore. She's a nursing teacher. She's really nice and she relates to me because she crossed and pledged at Morgan State. I would also include my Early Childhood Development Professor -- Ms. Barbara Briscoe. She's very nice and she will try to help you out with anything she possibly can. She also gives great advice!
If you were the University President for a day, what would you do? I would change the food…That's definitely my first thing. I would also change the techniques in the library as far as study room hours and organization.
Describe your first day as a student at Morgan State University? My first day wasn't too bad because I knew the campus already from coming in the summer for cheerleading. So it was a pretty easy transition.
What do you like most about Morgan State? I like the athletics, because we are awesome!
