PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Aug. 28, 2010)-Jodeen Rademacher totaled a match-high 10 kills and Taylar Barney added eight to lead Montana State to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-21) non-conference victory over Morgan State on Day 2 of the Courtyard by Marriott Invitational at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
The match was the first-ever meeting between the two programs and was the Lady Bears second consecutive shutout loss of the tournament. Erin Cox led Morgan State with nine kills and Rhyan Shy added five kills. Dina Beamon finished with 14 digs and Cox tallied 10. #Ngebui (Natalie) Chafeh# notched a career-high 16 assists.
The Lady Bears (1-2) were limited to .027 hitting percentage with a total of 26 kills for the match, including a set low four kills in the second set. The Bobcats, who improved to 3-0 on the season, finished with 38 kills and a hitting percentage of .169 for the match.
Morgan State did hold a 6-5 blocking advantage with Shaundalyn Taylor and Kierra Riley both recording a match-high four kills. Dominique Bozier added two blocks, giving her 165 for her career and moving her past O'Tasha Williams for ninth-place all-time at Morgan State.
Meghan Albiston led Montana State with a match-high 23 digs and Rachelle Allen added 15. Mackenzi Campbell finished the match with 28 assists for the Bobcats.
The Lady Bears will conclude the tournament at 7 p.m. tonight, as they make the short trip to Moon Township, Pa., to take on co-host Robert Morris at the Charles L. Sewall Center on the campus of Robert Morris.
