Track & Field Sends Five to NCAA East Region Championship

BALTIMORE, Md. (May 27, 2010)-For five members of the Morgan State men's and women's outdoor track and field team, their season will continue this weekend at the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's East Region Outdoor Championship, hosted by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.

Kevin Bowen, Trey Charles along with Tanisha Kendrick, Avionne Sloan and Allison Randall will represent Morgan State as they compete in their respective events, during the NCAA East Region preliminary round Thursday-Saturday, May 27-29 at Aggie Stadium.

During Thursday's preliminary round, Charles will compete in the 400 meter hurdles beginning at 3:30 p.m., while Bowen, Kendrick and Sloan will compete in the 400 meter dash with the men's event starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the women at 7 p.m. Both the 400 meter hurdles and the 400 meter dash will have six heats with the top three from each heat advancing, plus the next six to Friday's quarterfinals.

 

Randall, who will compete in the discus, will have to wait until Saturday when the event gets started at 3:30 p.m. The discus will consist of three flights with the top 16 advancing to finals later that day.
